π‘ Animal Shelters & Rescues in the Tahoe / Truckee Area
Share
At Tahoe Dog Co., rescue stories hold a special place in our hearts β both Sampson and Riley came from local shelters. The Tahoe / Truckee region is full of incredible organizations working hard to give dogs safe homes, happy trails, and loving families. Here are a few of our favorites.
Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT)
π 10961 Stevens Lane, Truckee, CA
The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is a local cornerstone β rescuing, sheltering, and re-homing dogs (and cats) throughout the mountain region. They also offer low-cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, and community outreach programs. Whether youβre looking to adopt, foster, or volunteer, HSTT is always a great place to start. I have volunteered with this organization for several years now, and they run a fantastic facility. Resident Tahoe Dog Co. dog "Sampson" is an alum of HSTT, so we know it's tops!
Res-Que β Reno
π Reno, NV
A volunteer-run nonprofit thatβs been saving lives since 2008, Res-Que specializes in helping abandoned and at-risk dogs across Northern Nevada and Northern California. They rely completely on foster homes and community support β and theyβre the reason Riley found her forever pack. Resident Tahoe Dog Co. dog "Riley" is an alum of Res-Que Reno, and their foster program (thank you foster mom Kristy!), so we can highly recommend them.
