๐Ÿ–๏ธ Best Dog Beaches in Lake Tahoe

Where Tahoe Dogs Splash, Swim & Play

From turquoise coves to shady pine beaches, Lake Tahoe has plenty of spots where dogs can join the fun โ€” some year-round, some seasonal. Here are a few favorites where you and your pup can dip your toes (and paws) in the water.

Kiva Beach โ€“ South Lake Tahoe

๐Ÿ“ Off Highway 89 near the Tallac Historic Site
๐ŸŒ US Forest Service info

A local favorite and one of the most dog-friendly beaches on the lake. Dogs are welcome year-round on leash, and thereโ€™s plenty of shallow water for cooling off after a forest hike.

Coon Street Dog Beach โ€“ Kings Beach

๐Ÿ“ End of Coon Street, Kings Beach, CA
๐ŸŒ North Tahoe Public Utility District

Designated off-leash section east of the main beach, open seasonally. Great for confident swimmers with solid recall, and easy parking nearby.

Sand Harbor State Park โ€“ Incline Village, NV

๐Ÿ“ 2005 Highway 28, Incline Village
๐ŸŒ parks.nv.gov

Dogs are allowed only from October 15 to April 15, and must be on leash. Outside those dates, no dogs are permitted on the sand โ€” but itโ€™s absolutely worth a winter visit for crystal-clear water and quiet coves.

Skylandia Park & Beach โ€“ Tahoe City

๐Ÿ“ 200 Sequoia Ave, Tahoe City, CA
๐ŸŒ parks.tahoepublicworks.org

Dogs are allowed in designated areas and along the trails leading down to the beach. Early morning visits are peaceful, with plenty of pine shade and lake views.

Other Dog-Friendly Spots

  • Hidden Beach (NV) โ€“ Scenic walk-in cove; dogs allowed on leash.

  • North Zephyr Cove (NV) โ€“ Less-crowded stretch where dogs can wade at the far north end.

  • Kaspian Beach (West Shore) โ€“ Small but peaceful; dogs permitted on leash.

Note: Rules change seasonally โ€” always check posted signs or official park pages before visiting. Respect leash laws and pick up waste to keep Tahoeโ€™s beaches dog-friendly for everyone.
